The base version of visible armor in Secrets of Faydwer drop in Tier 2 zones. The various slots come from specific rare mobs which drop any of the four armor types:

To create Tier 3 armor you need to have the Tier 2 armor for your armor type and a Steam Core which matches your class. There are 8 types of Steam Core, each usable by a pair of classes:
- Steam Core: Martialism - Warrior and Rogue
- Steam Core: Intensity - Berserker and Wizard
- Steam Core: Purification - Paladin and Monk
- Steam Core: Dream - Bard and Enchanter
- Steam Core: Necrotic - Shadowknight and Necromancer
- Steam Core: Consort - Beastlord and Magician
- Steam Core: Dedicant - Cleric and Shaman
- Steam Core: Druadic - Ranger and Druid
Rare mobs in Tier 3 drop the Steam Cores and those that do only drop 2 of the 8 types making it a bit easier to target the kind you need:
- Dream and Druadic - Commander Gearwell, Foundry Master Slagspring, Head Scientist Gripwir and Malfunctioning Steamwork Borri, Larth the Toad and Wizbobble
- Martialism and Necrotic - Engineer LXII, Head Mechanic Binsprocket and Station Attendant Sparkbolt, Head Scientist Spodwork and Head Scientist Wripple, Geartop
- Purification and Dedicant - Shocktroop Commander XIX, Quartermaster Thickgear, Former Head Scientist Bozle and Head Scientist Fizzil, Steamwork Trainer and The Hangman
- Intensity and Consort - Zeka Repairer III, Foreman Bronzecoat and Steamwork Prototype Mark XIX, Head Administrator Grigano and Head Scientist Belnot, Glorb
It is possible to change the type on a Steam Core, but it isnt cheap. Purchase a Steam Core Re-Gearing Kit from the Ak`Anon Strike Force vendor (requires indifferent) for around 20,000pp. You would also need to purchase an "XYZ Core Gear Kit" to match the kind you need for another 10,000pp. Combine the Steam Core and the Gear Kit inside the Steam Core Re-Gearing Kit to change the type.
Another method is to obtain any of the four elemental essences from Crystallos used to make Tier 4. Purchase a Steam Core: Inert from Automated Vending Unit V, an "XYZ Core Gear Kit" for your class, and a Steam Core Re-Gearing Kit from the Ak`Anon Strike Force vendor. Combine the Steam Core: Inert, Crystallos Essence, and the XYZ Core Gear Kit inside the Steam Core Re-Gearing Kit to produce the Steam Core. Total cost around 30k.
Once you have the correct Steam Core purchase a Steam Core Embedder from the Ak`Anon Strike Force vendor (requires indifferent) for around 1600pp. Combine your Tier 2 armor (augs will be lost!) and the Steam Core inside the embedder to make your class specific Tier 3 armor.
All purchased materials are single use only.

To create Tier 4 armor you first need your class specific Tier 3 armor piece. Rare drakes and wyverns (like "An Elder Air Drake") drop essences which match their elements (such as Air Essence) roughly 50% of the time. Purchase an Elemental Essence Grafter from a Crusaders of Veeshan vendor for around 2500pp (requires Amiable). Combine your Tier 3 armor and an Essence inside the Grafter to create that version of the Tier 4 armor.
Alternatively you can collect all 4 versions of the Essences. Purchase an Elemental Essence Amalgamator from a Crusaders of Veeshan vendor for around 500pp. Combine the 4 Essences inside it to create a Prismatic Essence. Then combine that inside a Grafter to create the best version of Tier 4 armor.
If you create a single element version of Tier 4 armor and later decide to make a Prismatic instead, purchase an Elemental Essence Extractor for around 500pp (requires Kindly). Combine your armor piece in that to get back your essence and the Tier 3 piece of armor.
Tier 4 armor chest pieces contain a Type 15 aug slot. When you reach ally to a faction in SoF they will sell an Emblem for about 15000pp which can be put in the slot and give stats based on how many matching pieces of visible gear you are wearing. The full stats are given if you have all 8 pieces:
- Bertox Chosen - Emblem of Bertoxxulous' Chosen
- Camp Valor - Emblem of Valor
- Ak'Anon Strike Force - Emblem of Tri`Qaras
- Ladies of Light - Emblem of Ak`Anon
- Brownie Rebels - Emblem of Rebellion
- Fangbreakers - Emblem of the Fang Breakers
- Crusaders of Veeshan - Emblem of Elemental Fire
- Crusaders of Veeshan - Emblem of Elemental Ice
- Crusaders of Veeshan - Emblem of Elemental Earth
- Crusaders of Veeshan - Emblem of Elemental Air
All purchased materials are single use only.

Tier 2 raid visible gear drops by armor type. Each raid target can drop any of the four types but only for specific slots:

- Legs - Power Station

Tier 3 raid armor requires you to obtain a specific Gyro Core to match your class:
- Martialism - Warrior and Rogue
- Intensity - Berserker and Wizard
- Purification - Paladin and Monk
- Dream - Bard and Enchanter
- Necrotic - Shadowknight and Necromancer
- Consort - Beastlord and Magician
- Dedicant - Cleric and Shaman
- Druadic - Ranger and Druid
It is possible to change the type on a Gyro Core, but it isnt cheap. Purchase a Gyro Core Re-Gearing Kit from the Ak`Anon Strike Force vendor (requires indifferent) for around 20,000pp. You would also need to purchase an "XYZ Core Gear Kit" to match the kind you need for another 10,000pp. Combine the Gyro Core and the Gear Kit inside the Gyro Core Re-Gearing Kit to change the type.
Unlike the Steam Cores used in group armor, Gyro Cores are also slot specific with each raid yielding only one type:
- Chest - Meldrath
- Legs - Bargangle Tinkerson
- Arms - Krond the Longhorn
- Head - Brinda Sprocket
- Feet - Breakneck
- Hands - Battle Room
- Wrist - Soulbleeder and Ralkor's Crystals
Another method is to obtain Prismaridescent Essence from Crystallos used to make Tier 4. Purchase a Gyro Core: Inert from Automated Vending Unit V which matches the slot, an "XYZ Core Gear Kit" for your class, and a Gyro Core Re-Gearing Kit. Combine the Gyro Core: Inert, Crystallos Essence, and the XYZ Core Gear Kit inside the Gyro Core Re-Gearing Kit to produce the Gyro Core. Total cost around 30k.
Once you have a Gyro Core for your class and for the slot, you'll need to purchase a Gyro Core Embedder from the Ak`Anon Strike Force vendor (requires indifferent) for around 1800pp. Combine either a Tier 1 or Tier 2 piece of armor (augs will be lost!) and the Gyro Core inside the embedder to make your class specific Tier 3 armor. If you don't have a matching piece of lower tier gear you can use an "Un-Cored *type* *slot* Template" sold by the same vendor. These cost between 13,000 and 18,000 depending on slot.

Enchanter | Wrist | Gloves | Feet | Head | Arms | Legs | Chest |
Beastlord | Wrist | Gloves | Feet | Head | Arms | Legs | Chest |
Berserker | Wrist | Gloves | Feet | Head | Arms | Legs | Chest |
To create Tier 4 armor you will first need to have the matching piece of Tier 3 gear. There is no work around for this like there was to make Tier 3 without Tier 1 or 2. You will also need the slot specific Prismaridescent Essence from Crystallos raids:
- Chest - Kerafyrm
- Legs - Brood Mother Visziaj
- Arms - Vyskudra and Aerius Windfury
- Head - Zeixshi`Kar and Halls of Fire
- Feet - Kildrukaun and Keeper of the Stones
- Hands - Tjudawos and Ice Constructs
- Wrist - Halls of Fire, Keeper of the Stones, Ice Constructs, and Aerius Windfury
Once you have your Tier 3 armor and the matching Essence purchase a Prismaridescent Essence Grafter from a Crusaders of Veeshan vendor for around 2500pp (requires Amiable). Combine your Tier 3 armor and an Essence inside the Grafter to create your Tier 4 armor.
